TAKEN BY ICE

Taken By ICE is a collaborative project facilitated by the MIRA Coalition, the largest statewide coalition advancing the rights, dignity, and full participation of immigrants and refugees in Massachusetts.

Founded in 1987, MIRA was created to respond to sweeping federal immigration changes and to ensure that immigrant voices were not excluded from public life. For nearly four decades, MIRA has convened community organizations, service providers, advocates, and directly impacted individuals to defend due process, strengthen democracy, and advance policies that allow all people to live, work, and belong with dignity.

MIRA places immigrant and refugee voices at the center of its work. Through organizing, policy advocacy, public education, and capacity building, the coalition has played a leading role in advancing immigrant rights at the local, state, and national levels, including protections against abusive enforcement practices and the expansion of access to language services, legal support, and integration programs.

Taken By ICE supports this mission by creating a public record of immigration enforcement encounters that raise serious due process and civil rights concerns. By documenting firsthand accounts and amplifying those stories, the project seeks transparency, accountability, and solidarity with those affected.

Visibility matters. History matters. People matter.
