Tell Us Your Story

As long as people have existed, we've told stories. Stories are how we communicate and experience our shared humanity. They empower us to cherish and bravely protect our shared values and each other.

We are collecting stories to document and shine a light on how ICE enforcement activities affect our communities. By sharing these experiences, we aim to increase public understanding of the human impact of current immigration policies and practices and empower those targeted by enforcement actions.

We refuse to be silenced. We refuse to be erased.

Your story matters. Whether you've been directly affected by an enforcement action, or witnessed their impact on your family, community, workplace, school, or neighborhood, we want to hear from you.

All submissions are confidential and will be handled with care. Personal identifying information will be protected, and stories will only be shared publicly with explicit permission. You control how much or how little of your experience you choose to share.

If you are comfortable, please try to cover the following points in your story:

  1. Who was involved. This may be you, a family member, a friend, or someone in your community. You may share names or keep them private.

  2. What happened. Describe the interaction or detention as clearly as you can. Focus on what you saw, heard, or experienced.

  3. Where it happened. Share the city, neighborhood, or location if known.

  4. When it happened. Include the date or approximate time frame.

  5. Why you believe the person was targeted or approached, if that information was given or if you were told a reason.

  6. What rights or steps were missing, if any. For example, no explanation, no warrant shown, no access to a lawyer, or no clear charges.

  7. What is happening now. Share the current status, such as whether the person is still detained, released, transferred, missing, or if the situation remains unclear.

Share only what feels safe. You may leave out details that you feel could put you or others at risk.

For written reports

You can either type your story in the space below, or upload your DOCX or PDF file.

For audio or video recordings

You do not need special equipment. Using your phone audio or video is enough. Speak in your own words, at your own pace. Try to record in a quiet place. Recordings of up to five minutes or less are ideal, but longer is welcome if needed.

You may record using any language you choose.

Once your story is recorded, upload the audio or video file using the form below, or share a link to the video if it is hosted on a platform like Google Drive, Dropbox, or YouTube.

If you share your story on social media, please tag it with #TAKENBYICE and #MIRACoalition so others can find it, learn from it, and take action.

Your story matters. Thank you for taking the time to share. By speaking up you are refusing to allow these transgressions to be normalized.
